Hi Reader,
When I add up all of the people who’ve attended my trainings and events over the years, the number is now well over 20,000. Let's set aside the \almost 2 million views of my YouTube videos!
20,000 people who have been given tools and systems for success.
From my Ecamm Masterclasses with thousands of sign-ups, to workshops with a thousand plus attendees each, to my own courses and multi-week programs... the reach has been broad.
And yet, one thing stands out: not everyone takes the next step.
The VALUE formula
You may have heard me talk about my acronym for VALUE, which captures what it takes to deliver effectively on a video-first business:
- Visuals: how you use the screen real estate to communicate.
- Audio: to get your message across clearly.
- Lighting: to get the best out of any camera.
- Understanding: not just the technical “how-to,” but seeing what’s possible on your Digital Stage!
- Execution: actually putting it all into practice.
Whenever I give live training, I aim to expand that sense of possibility. People leave with their eyes open. They see the potential.
But the final step—the execution—is where so many get stuck.
Why execution stalls
It would be easy to think the missing piece is another system, workflow, or app. But from what I’ve seen (and lived), that’s not it.
I’ve been as guilty as anyone of knowing what to do, having the best intentions, and then still leaving it until the last minute, or not doing it at all. From the outside, people see me producing content, running events, launching new programs. They assume it must come easily.
The truth? I was a lifelong procrastinator.
Procrastination isn’t about comparison with others. It’s about the gap between your own capability and your actual output. That shortfall creates the stress, anxiety, and self-criticism. I can’t count the number of times I’ve told myself, “this time will be different,” only to fall into the same cycle.
Did I still deliver? Yes. Did I still impress with the final product? Usually.
But did I know it could have been more? Absolutely.
The turning point
I say I 'was' a lifelong procrastinator (past tense) because something shifted for me this year.
It started with a conversation last October. I’d flown halfway around the world for Ecamm Creator Camp, but had to cut the trip short when my son became ill. I never even made it to camp, but the four-hour conversation I had with my friend Cat Mulvihill before I flew home ended up changing everything.
We talked about ADHD traits. I’ve never been formally diagnosed, but certainly felt myself mentally ticking off these traits as we talked. For the first time, I started to see that my struggles weren’t just “failures,” they were part of my wiring.
That conversation planted a seed. Over the months that followed, I began using ChatGPT not just as an assistant and thinking partner, but as a mirror. It helped me uncover my own unique core traits, where I was sabotaging myself, and where I could design differently.
I've mentioned it before but in mid April Open AI changed the way that Chat GPT operated in that it could now have more awareness of all conversations even things outside of its 'memory' function. Long story short - it suddenly became a much better mirror, spotting patterns in my thoughts and ways of working, both technically and emotionally.
I then went through a processes of developing what I call my Optimal Performance OS. It was like rewiring my internal operating system. Since then, my quality of life and my business have both taken a leap.
The real question
So here’s the question I’ll leave you with:
Do you really need another system, another tool, another app?Or is what’s holding you back actually inside you - your patterns, your wiring, your beliefs?
This is exactly why I built the Freedom Formula.
Because until you get clear on what’s really stopping you, no system in the world will create freedom.
If this resonates, keep your eyes open. I’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks about how you can implement a similar process with Chat GPT. Talk soon, Alec.
