Hi Reader,
The two week break over Christmas and New Year always feels like a gift to me.
It’s not quite a complete holiday, but certainly not 'business as usual. It’s something in between and for me it’s one of the most useful windows of the entire year.
There’s the obvious part, time with family, a bit more sleep, a bit more breathing room. That’s the regeneration.
But there’s also something else that happens when the noise drops.
You get space to think.
You stop reacting to the week in front of you and you start noticing what’s been quietly creating friction for months.
So this week I’ve been doing a mini reset, not a big dramatic “new year, new me” thing, just small, practical changes that remove friction.
One example: my studio setup.
I realised I had a few little pain points that were slowing me down, small cable chaos, a couple of things not plugged in because it was just annoying to deal with, a setup that worked but wasn’t effortless.
So I fixed them.
Not because I love tidying cables (although I kind do, actually!), but because friction is sneaky. It doesn’t stop you completely, it just makes everything feel heavier than it needs to. And that weight adds up.
Here’s the question I’ve been asking myself:
“What is one thing that keeps making this harder than it should be?”
Not in a self-help way. In a real way.
If you want to do your own end-of-year reset, try this simple approach:
- Pick one thing you want to do more consistently in 2026 (video, content, meetings, presentations, whatever)
- Identify the one friction point that makes you avoid it
- Remove that friction point this week, before the year even begins
It’s not about willpower. It’s about making the right thing easier to do.
Because once you have a clean start, momentum comes naturally.
Speaking of clean starts... Starting 5th January, I’m running the Ecamm Live Accelerator, a live, interactive two week training designed to help you build a more polished and effortless video presence, across recorded videos, livestreams, and meetings.
So if your video presence is something you want to make frictionless, check out the details below.
